Yesterday, we witnessed something truly unique—the colors, the sail, but no bill. A sight to remember!
During our mission to target Billfish, specifically Blue Marlin, we hooked a Sailfish on the third bite, and it stayed on.
Hooking a billfish presents a challenge compared to hooking a regular fish due to the presence of the bill, which makes it slightly more difficult.
When we go to the Outer Banks, there's a greater likelihood of catching these large game fish.

The sargassum adds another layer of difficulty. The captain manages to navigate around the sargassum, but that's precisely when the fish are biting. This particular fish was an unusual one, both beautiful and unique.
Sailfish are one of the fastest and most spectacular game fish in the ocean. Known for their long, slender bodies, pointed bills (similar to a swordfish), and their signature sail-like dorsal fin, these fish are a favorite among sport anglers.
They can reach speeds of up to 68 mph (110 km/h), making them an exhilarating catch. When hooked, sailfish often leap and dance across the water, putting on an unforgettable show.
While they’re typically catch-and-release, the thrill of the fight makes them a bucket-list catch for many fishing enthusiasts.
So, what's up with a Sailfish with NO BILL? Unresolves mystery we will never know, was it a birth defect or a broken bill?
